How will additional street trees change the character of Winslow Way?
The preliminary design includes the addition of many new street trees along Winslow Way. Deciduous species with open canopies will provide maximum light penetration in the winter and dappled light and shade in the summer. Street trees will retain and detain storm water to decrease the amount of polluted runoff that enters the storm drains and travels to Eagle Harbor and Puget Sound. Tree canopies will also provide a natural buffer between the upper stories of buildings and the street and sidewalk below.
