How will accommodations for special education students work with online testing?
NCS Pearson and the Virginia Department of Education are working with the National Center on Educational Outcomes (http://education.umn.edu/NCEO/) to address what accommodations may be available in the online testing environment. NCEO is developing accommodation guidelines for online testing in general and will also focus specifically on Virginia’s assessment program. NCEO began working with NCS Pearson and the Virginia Department of Education in Fall, 2001. While some accommodations may be easily converted for online testing (for example, small group administration or breaks during the test), others may take longer to develop.
