How will a “soy” product in diesel fuel benefit farmers?
Farmers will benefit for SoyGold in two ways. First, they will be using a high quality product that increases diesel fuel lubricity to extend the life of diesel engines in tractors, combines and other diesel-powered equipment. Second, farmers will be adding to the value of soybeans helping to create a permanent new market that will consume what is traditionally a large surplus of unsold soybean oil stocks. In 1996 alone, there was a 2.4 billion pounds carryover of unsold soybean oil stocks. According to the USDA 1996 Situation and Outlook Report, new annual market demand of 50 million gallons, created by products such as SoyGold, would add 7% to the cash price of soybean oil.
