How wide can the area of contact between the electrodes and aluminum foil be?

It seems that narrower is better. I believe electrode rails that are sitting on the aluminum should not be wider than about one inch. Contact with the aluminum foil should be made all along the electrode length and as close to the electrode edge as possible in order to minimize inductance.
