How where horses finally domesticated?
The exact date is still unclear, though the domestication of the horse took place somewhere between 5,000 and 4,000 BC. An interesting thought to consider is why did domestication of the horse not happen before this time, as humans and horses had co-existed for tens of thousands of year by that point. The answer is simple. Humans weren’t ready. In order to be able to domesticate other animals, humans would have needed to “domesticate” themselves first. Just as the horse took millions of years to evolve to the point where they are today, so too did it take humans thousands of years to evolve. Before being able to jump on a horse and ride, certain things needed to be accomplished such as developing and using tools but also learning of the behavioral issues of the horse such as biting, kicking when threatened and being careful of that.
