How were women and africans treated after the u.s. won independence from great britain?
Slaves remained slaves, the slave trade continued legally until 1818 (I believe we were the first country to set a cut-off date for ending the African Slave Trade.), and freed blacks were barely treated better than Indians, and women were treated as chattels with very few more legal rights than slaves.
