How were the tuition waiver allocations determined?

0

Tuition waiver allocations and projections for departments were based on data from the AY-06 academic year. Data on all students receiving assistantships during this time period was supplied by the Office of Institutional Research and the Budget Office. The actual amount of tuition waived was determined from the enrollment history of the students, referenced to their residency status. To this end the tuition waiver projections are based on actual credit hours taken by students in their respective programs. The use of AY-06 data was at the request of the Council of Deans, who wished to base the implementation of this waiver program on real data rather than on model projections. Model projections were approximately 7% lower than actual data. As such, I believe that the current projections were the most favorable that we could offer.
