How were the Pteranodons in TLW loose when in JP3 they were in the cage?

We believe the Pteranodons in TLW were P. longiceps (though P. sternbergi is valid due to other film evidence) while the Pteranodons in JP3 were P. longiceps “hippocratesi”. In other words we feel that they were two different species and the P. longiceps were docile as opposed to the P. “hippocratesi”.
