How were the furnaces in Roman baths controlled? Who and how?
There was a special on the History Channel about Roman baths, and they managed to make a reproduction work. The water flowed over the furnace, and the fire was an ordinary fire made of wood or coal. The flow of water was automated, and slaves probably keep the fire going so the water was at the right temperature.
