How were the certificates hidden?
A. The World’s Greatest Treasure Hunt founder Ron Shore spent 2 years working with naval navigation experts as well as people from the geo-caching community to design a method of hiding the certificates so that no one person could know the exact locations. The term used for this is “sequential segmental tracking”. In order to do this is takes a team of specially trained military members, all of which are blindfolded and dropped off within a 250 mile radius of the destination, specifically, the 12 cities mentioned in the book. At the drop off point the team leader then takes his blindfold off and leads the rest of the blindfolded military members on a short journey segment. After each segment the team leader stops, a new team leader is assigned and that person removes their blind fold. Each time a new team leader is assigned the old team leader stays behind.
