How were student reading gains measured?
The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literary Skills (DIBELS) is a set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literary development. Participating students were assessed each school year before the program, at its midpoint, and once the program was completed. DIBELS is widely used within the Chicago Public Schools, rendering this measurement applicable and meaningful to teachers and principals.
