How were Canadians engaged in the development of Canadas National Plan of Action?
• The process to develop Canada’s National Plan of Action is broad and inclusive, and utilizes a number of distinct but interrelated processes. • To begin, in December 2002, Senator Landon Pearson, as Prime Minister Jean Chrétien’s personal representative to the development of Canada’s NPA, invited Canadians to share with her their priorities, emerging issues and strategies for action via an open letter which was posted on her website. Since this open call for input, hundreds of letters were received from people in every province and territory. • Four regional Dialogues, hosted by Senator Pearson, involved a representative cross-section of civil society with an interest in children, including those working directly with or on behalf of children.
