How well would egg cartons soundproof my door?
I’m assuming your mom is a drunk. Oh God! I feel sorry for you. – A living nightmare. Go into a dumpster and get carpeting. – And lay them one on top of the other. I don’t know what kind of magic egg cartons will do …for all that work. How about a heavy quilted blanket over the door. Screw one end to the upper left of the door frame. And a hook on the upper right door frame. – So you can unhook the blanket, to get out the door. If you only nail it to the door …you’re going to get noise from all around the crack between the door frame and door. If you think the neighbors can hear it …make an anonymous call to the police. ‘THAT’ aughta quieten her down a bit.
Be careful of egg cartons. They burn very easy and the fire drips the plastic. If there is a fire you may have trouble getting out of the room. strange things happen. Try a cloth drapery hung over the door. If you have a hard surface floor like tile or wood or the worst laminate, put down an area rug. Try playing a radio or sound machine.
