How Well is VAC Managing Occupational Health and Safety?
This section looks at the management framework for OHS within VAC and examines VAC’s record in establishing OHS programs that are effective in protecting employees at work, and compliant with the Canada Labour Code – Part II. The management framework for OHS in VAC begins with the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services (ADM/CS). The Director of Security Services reports to the ADM/CS. Under the Director of Security Services are two security officers responsible for security and emergency situations in all VAC offices across Canada, and the “Health and Safety Unit”, consisting of the National OHS Officer and a Senior Project Officer.
