How well do anti-histamines work at treating allergies?
There are many different antihistamines on the market today, try some different ones until you find one that works well for you. Everyone’s body chemistry is a little different, so you may just need to experiment a little with different OTC meds – read the labels to be sure you are not buying three brands with the same main ingredient. Also, a person’s body chemistry undergoes major changes about every 7 years – so things you were never allergic to before can become a big problem, and things you had horrible allergies to may not bother you so much or at all. Trying to keep all of the things you mentioned like dust, pet hair, mold etc. under better control will make a big difference also. Replacing carpeting with tile or wood/pergo and dust mopping frequently will help a lot, as well as doing a survey of the area where you sleep (after all, you spend a good part of a day there!) and getting that as dust free and cleaned up as you can too. Good luck and I hope you see some improvement!
