hi,for pepper crushed particles of brick is the most common adulterant. You can test it by uniformly shaking the whole content and adding water in small sample taken.Brick particles being heavier in weight will settle at bottom of container. In case of sugar, small polished crystals(in fact amorphous) of rice is used.Again add spoonful of sample and add it in glass having water, sugar will get dissolved and you can see the adulterants. For fats and oil, different types of hydrocarbons, aromatic compounds and petroleum oil,glycerin-es are used. You have to go for lab test for such compounds.Or refer any organic chemistry of 12th grade, you can perform the test at your home. But if Argemone oil is used as adulterant then its near to impossible to get about it.In theses cases, odor and taste of the sample plays good role to identify the organic mixed. For turmeric powder, lead chromate and horse stool are the culprits.
