HOW WAS VISITING THE U.S. CAPITOL BUILDING FOR THE FIRST TIME?

We just drove by it in the bus. We didn’t get inside of any of the buildings, just drove by. There’s so much security down there you couldn’t get into some of them. WHERE DID YOU SERVE IN WORLD WAR II? I was over in the European theater of operations, there in France and then on through. I was in the 903rd Field Artillery Headquarters and Headquarters Battery. It’s a unit they had over there and whatever came up is what we did. It was under Eisenhower. We was in combat, I have a lot of memories, but not a lot that I’d like to say. DID YOU MEET OTHER VETERANS ON THE TRIP? There were 60 veterans and we probably had 140 all together, with nurses and helpers and things like that to push the veterans around. I think I was the only from up here; most were from Rochester. I met a lot of people and made a lot of friends, probably never will see them again but I met a lot of them. HOW WAS IT SEEING THE NATIONAL WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL FOR THE FIRST TIME? I wasn’t sure what I was going to see unti
