How was the transition from Traverse City to Buffalo?
More challenging? Any surprises? It’s hard for anyone to move from a small market like Traverse City (market #113 at the time) to a top 50 market like Buffalo (market #46 at the time). But I was not only leaving the comfort of a job in a smaller market, but leaving my home, my family and my friends behind. My wife had gotten a reporting job at the CBS affiliate and I knew she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to advance her career. It was a little intimidating to move to a city where neither one of us knew anyone, without a job or any real leads, but I was up for the challenge. I got my foot in the door at the NBC affiliate, WGRZ-TV, working part-time in production. I quickly moved to a full-time job in the promotions department.
