How was the recording and writing of Diamond Eyes different than previous records?
We had a mind-set that we were just going to do it in a more timely fashion, be more organized, and put our work ethic in a better place. The last few records, we’ve taken our time, and we wanted to capture lightning in a bottle with this. Rather than going into a studio, we went into a rehearsal space and wrote, wrote and wrote until we had enough songs to play live before we even went into the studio. It actually worked in our favor, going into the studio with the confidence that we already knew what we were going to play. I felt like everybody was at a point that we were appreciative of making music with each other again as friends. Everyone gave 110 percent and enjoyed it, actually. That was something that had been missing a bit on previous records.
