How was the MHSA Community Services and Support Plan developed?
A. Monterey County conducted a 6-month community planning process in the spring and summer of 2005. The purpose was to engage community members, especially individual receiving mental health services and family members, in identifying the mental health needs of those currently served, underserved, and unserved by the countys mental health system. The entire process involved over 1800 participants in 80 meetings, including clients and family members, low-income communities, ethnic minorities, migrant and new immigrant populations, traditionally marginalized populations, community leaders, other stakeholders, and community based organizations. Community involvement strategies included focus groups, local public meetings, collaborative meetings, community leader meetings, online surveys, mailed surveys, newspaper surveys, and a toll free feedback phone number. All strategies were conducted in English and Spanish. For a list of all community meetings please click here: Monterey County Publ
