How was the idea to create a school garden in Perpignan conceived?
L: We undertook a study on eating habits among families in Perpignan and we realised that local small agriculture was in danger of disappearing. Then, Slow Food proposed creating a school garden to educate children on good taste regarding organic and natural food and respect for the environment” – When we ask about the possible cooperation between the school garden in Perpignan and the Shape Up project Mr. LĂ©rithier explains – “Nowadays children are not keen on eating fruit and vegetables, and we thought that giving them the chance to plant, collect and cook their own products would encourage the children to eat them, and they would then pass on their experience to their parents and promote healthy eating habits beyond the school garden.
