How Was The Flute Made?

0

Up until the late 1600s, the flute only had tone holes.Thats the time the Baroque flute was invented. It was made of wood and had 7 tone holes and 1 key for the little fnger.Instead of being built whole the improved flute was built in 3 sections. This helped intonation because the space between the sections could be adjusted. However, it wasnt until 1847 that major changes were made by the German flautist and goldsmith Theobald Boehm. The redesign was made of 2 main steps.1st each hole was placed so that each note would’ve the same tone quality. The other advancement was a key system. The Boehm system improved intonation, made the flutes tone louder, and notes easier to play.Today the flute has remained basically unchanged to present day.
