How was the cooking ability of the Microwave discovered?
Microwaves were first used during World War II for radar. The component for producing microwaves in the radar is called the Magnetron. One of the companies manufacturing magnetrons in mass scale was M/s. Raytheon of United States of America. In 1945 Mr. Percy Spencer, a researcher with M/s. Raytheon was working with a radar when he noticed that a chocolate that he was carrying in his pocket melted due to the microwaves, this is how he discovered the cooking ability of Microwaves. Raytheon introduced the first Microwave Oven in 1947. The commercial production of Microwave Ovens started in the last 2 decades.
