How was the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee established?
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO) is an organization in charged of all matters related to Beijing’s bid for the 2008 Olympics. Under the approval of the State Council, or the Central Government, BOBICO was established on September 6, 1999. Its members include officials from the Beijing municipal government, the State General Administration of Sport, departments of the Central Government and the State Council, athletes, personnel from the education, science and culture circles and personages from other social sections. Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, is the President of BOBICO. Yuan Weimin, president of the China Olympic Committee, is the Executive President. Li Zhijian, vice minister of the State General Administration of Sport, and Liu Jingmin, vice mayor of Beijing, are the Executive Vice Presidents.
