How was the Adjunct Teacher Initiative developed?

0

Representatives from Intel approached the adjunct teacher idea with Superintendent Horne in December, 2007. The Arizona Department of Education in conjunction with businesses, universities, and educators across the state, then proceeded to develop the Adjunct Teacher Framework. The Framework guides the development of business-education partnerships providing qualified math and science professionals as adjunct teachers. These adjunct teachers will support and strengthen instruction in math and science, thereby improving student performance and meeting graduation requirements. Businesses involved in the initial planning include Intel, Boeing, IBM Software Group, Pinnacle West, Avnet, Texas Instruments, Medtronic, Wells Fargo, Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arizona Business and Education Coalition, and Greater Phoenix Leadership, Inc.
