How was reGen™ muscle recovery beverage developed?
The use of cocoa for functional purposes started as early as 1200 B.C. in Mesoamerica. More recent research on cocoa has focused on the flavanol antioxidants found in cocoa and cardiovascular benefits, especially in regard to blood pressure and blood flow. However, there was a big hurdle in attempting to leverage cocoa’s nutritive benefits in a recovery beverage. Many chocolate-flavored beverages utilize alkalized cocoa for improved solubility, flavor and color; however, alkalization can significantly reduce cocoa’s antioxidant power. Our scientists developed a unique patent-pending process that incorporates the large amount of natural cocoa found in each serving of reGen™ without resorting to the use of alkalized cocoa. We then conducted further research to get to the optimal recovery formula that is now the reGen™ beverage.
