How was Michael Jacksons relationship with his father?
Michael had a conflicted relationship with his father, Joe Jackson, while growing up. He was often physically and emotionally abused during the Jackson’s 5 incessant rehearsals. Joe acknowledged that he regularly whipped Michael as a child. Joe would trip and push his sons into walls, as well as call them names. Sometimes Michael would vomit when he saw his father. At the same time, Michael credits his success in part to his father’s discipline.
