In 2000, the company established the Digital TV Technology Research Center with Tsinghua University. There we developed a new advanced modulation technology-Time Domain Synchronous-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (TDS-OFDM). Using TDS-OFDM, Legend Silicon and Tsinghua University patented and brought to market a new terrestrial DTV broadcasting protocol-Digital Media/TV Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DMB-T) -which is the backbone of the China GB20600-2006 standard. Legend Silicon subsequently developed the Digital Multimedia/Television Broadcasting-Terrestrial/Handheld (DMB-TH), an advanced scheme that supports fixed, mobile and handheld reception of terrestrial DTV. This is now incorporated into the GB20600-2006 standard.
