How was Larry Fitzgerald recently touched by breast cancer?
“I’ve been touched tragically by breast cancer. My family lost my mother a couple of years back, it’s a very important cause to me. I’ve had aunts that have been diagnosed with breast cancer, so it hits close to home,” Fitzgerald says. Six years after his mother Carol’s death, he still reaches out to her for support. “I carry her license with me at all times. Any time I have a rough time, rough day, I look right there, in my wallet, and she’s smiling at me and it makes me feel good. It just tells me ‘Larry, no matter what’s going on, keep your head up’ and she was always so positive and I always try to play that same way,” he explains. She is the reason behind his famous long locks. “My mom always loved my long hair in high school before I had to cut it and she told me ‘you know what baby, you should grow it back.’ Every time I look in the mirror when I wake up in the morning, I think of her so it starts my day off on the right foot.” And recently Larry partnered with Cold Stone Creame
