Baseball was introduced into Japan in 1868 by an American English teacher, who was a veteran of the civil war working in Japan in foremost school of higher education which later became the prestigious Tokyo University. He started to teach baseball at this school. At that time students were too busy in their studies they never had any time for any exercise or sports.
