How was country life in ancient Greece?

There were many classes of people. There were the slaves from other land. Slaves had no rights and work hard, sometimes getting freedom. There were foreigners not born in Greece. They cannot vote or marry Greek. There were Greek citizens. The male citizens over 16(I think) participated in direct democracy by voting on issues. Then of course there were elders who were leaders or patriachs and influence many citizens. In the country, people worked hard by farming on the harsh Balkan terrain and raise animals. In cities, people live around a market and temple dedicated to various gods. Athenians were espcially proud of their democratic systems. However, there were little democracy in country but the few farmers living toghether worked together to find a way to live.
