How was compensation calculated?
The compensation offered to the Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation was based on the current unimproved land value for both parcels of land, as well as on the loss of use associated with each parcel. Both of these elements were calculated by independent experts and later analyzed by both parties for these specific claims. A final amount was later negotiated and agreed upon by both parties.
