How was Bill Murray treated in Woodstock?
Well, after the locals saw what a great job he was doing with the film, he became rather popular. Jeffrey Puma relates the following tale: “A guy I went to high school with claimed that one night he was filling up his gas tank when Murray came out of Porter’s (a bar and seafood restaurant in C.L.) and was mobbed by people wanting his autograph. As the story goes, he didn’t want to wait around for the vallet to pull up his car, so he ran across the street and jumped into this guy’s VW beatle and asked for a ride home.” Jeffrey recommends taking this story with a grain of salt. I think it’s true, whether in real life or just in our hearts and souls it does not matter.
