First of all, I have never heard that claim and doubt that any discovery was made while on LSD. In regards to your question, Watson and Crick did not actually discover DNA, but they proposed a structure for the DNA molecule. This was a long and drawn out process, as most scientific discoveries are, that didn’t just come together overnight. With this being said, Rosalind Franklin did play a huge role and quite often gets overlooked by the public. It was her expert work with x-ray crystalography that was the key to solving this puzzle, since without any guidelines there would have been nothing for Watson and Crick to base their proposition upon. Also, they did not steal information, since the discovery of DNA was not theirs to claim as stated previously. For some reason the public seems to come to the conclusion that everything was about Watson and Crick. They were definitely important in the scheme of things, but there is always a lot of work going on behind the scenes that doesn’t get
