How useful is GIS (Geographic Information System) as a tool to analyze watershed health?
Oral Clackamas High School, Clackamas, OR Andrew Gilford We used ArcGIS, a software mapping program, to analyze watershed health in the Clackamas Watershed. We created two maps based on data provided by METRO regional government. The first map examined the location of drinking water intake sources with levels of pollution on the river. The second map was able to demonstrate overlap between high areas of aquatic diversity and high levels of pollution. While we found GIS to be a useful tool in analyzing watershed data, we recognized some shortcomings in its overall application. 2005 Insect diversity and fish populations in two lower Clackamas watershed streams Oral Clackamas High School, Clackamas, OR Andrew Gilford In comparing diversity of insect orders and fish population numbers, it was hypothesized that the greater the diversity of insects, the higher the fish populations would be. SWRP data showing number of insect orders was taken from Clear Creek and Deep Creek over the last thre
