There should be one tRNA used for each amino acid in the polypeptide chain as each one tRNA molecule is attached to one amino acid. The tRNA molecules have an “anticodon” region that recognizes a specific 3 nucleotide sequence on the mRNA called a codon. The specific codon that is present will be recognized by a specific tRNA bearing the proper anticodon which will add the amino acid “specified” by that codon.
