HOW TRIANGLE SHAPE OF CONIFERS PROTECT THEM ?
Like most plants, conifers need as much sunlight as possible in order to produce food through photosynthesis. The triangle shape of the tree allows more needles to have exposure to sunlight since these trees are very densely packed. Thus, the triangle shape of conifers help them remain healthy and grow because it is the optimal shape to gain sunlight exposure. (Even with the triangle structure, sometimes it is still difficult for sunlight to reach the lower parts of the tree; thus, lower areas still must shed their needles and branches eventually.)
Additionally, the triangle shape also prevents too much snow weight from gathering on the tree since snow tends to slide right off this shape. This design is useful since conifers tend to grow in locations where snow is frequent in winter months.
