How toxis is pencil graphite?
Graphite isn’t toxic. I stuck a pencil in my hand back in 4th grade by accident, I still have the mark. Any injury will hurt — and an automatic pencil’s graphite is so thin that it may be like a papercut, too small for your body to kick in the pain-reducing endorphins, so it hurts way more than it seems it should. Now, anything that goes under your skin could be carrying bacteria (or you could have picked some up from any other surface touched by the open wound). I hope you washed it, and put some antibiotic ointment on it. And if it seems to be swelling, getting hot to the touch, changing color, etc, it might be a good idea to check with a doctor. I just re-read it, and I can’t tell if the graphite broke off in your finger or not (“that graphite in there”)… if you have a piece still in you, I’d get to a doctor to get it out. Foreign bodies inside you aren’t a good idea. If it’s just a mark left from the passage through, I wouldn’t worry about it unless it gets infected.
