How to Write Fantasy
To write fantasy you must write about the fantastic. While some writers seem to feel that including a wizard, a magic sword and a protagonist with a multi-syllabic and unpronounceable name is essential, you don’t really need any of those things. In fact, some of the best current fantasy includes none of them. The key to a good fantasy is to take an ordinary character that people can relate to and drop them in a world where things that could never happen or exist on earth are common place. A very common theme currently is to include supernatural creatures in a story where the people and the places are familiar. Examples of this are the Twilight books or the True Blood series.
