How to use the Life Cycle of a Star section of our curriculum web: The life cycle of a star section seeks to ask the students, Can you describe the life cycle of a star and predict the next likely stage of the Sun?
After students complete this section, they should be able to accurately answer this question and if given a star, be able to denote what stage it currently is in, as well as the next stage it will be in its life cycle. The following Earth Science GLEs will be covered in both star activities: ESS GLE#36 – Describe the life cycle of a star and predict the next likely stage of the Sun (ESS-M-C1). Specific Science as Inquiry GLEs and Technology standards will be listed under each activity. Life Cycle of a Star Background Information and General Activity: This activity serves as general background information on the topic. This activity has students read a brief introduction on the life cycle of a star, shows an image of a star going through its life cycle, and then presents a link to a vocabulary page. The activity is most effective in pairs. Students should read the introduction, view the image, then click on the link to the vocabulary page. Here students can select the printable version
