How to use the collection Genius of Blues Piano?
R. My aim is not to propose a group of pieces to be played by heart as classical music, but to help the reader understand, analyze and assimilate blues piano concepts and techniques. The remarks made in the presentations of the pieces and the appendices will help you understand the blues piano, and perhaps lead you to enrich this type of music, which seems to me to be incomplete. As concerns the execution, we can go from playing a whole piece by heart to targeting such and such passage which we may transpose into several keys and plunge into other contexts than the original, in order to better make it our own. Moreover, this collection contains pieces that may be rather easily played by heart and others which are out of the question; the composer himself does not play the same thing twice!
