How to unthaw ground beef?
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE RESPONSES ABOVE. YOU MAY GET VERY ILL!!!! The best way to thaw ground beef is to move it from the freezer to the fridge and let it thaw. If you need to thaw it in a hurry, put it in a zipper plastic bag and submerge it in a sink full of COLD water. If you use hot or warm water you will greatly encourage the growth of bacteria. When thawed, cook the meat thoroughly! In any case, DO NOT use warm or hot water or just let it sit in a bowl on the counter. It’s dangerous!!!!
The fastest way to thaw it and the way everyone I know thaws frozen meat is in the microwave. Leave it wrapped and put the whole thing in the microwave, hit the DEFROST button and set it for 3 min to start with. Add more time if necessary. Just make sure to set it on defrost, this is very low power and will not get too hot or cook the food. Thats also why it is safe to leave the wrapper on.
UnThaw? That would mean that the meat is thawed and you want to unthaw it – put it back in the freezer. Now if you want to THAW the frozen meat, let it sit on the counter in a bowl for a few hours. Or, I sometimes put the package in the sink and run warm/hot water over it. That seems to work the fastest.
