How to trim maple trees to produce syrup??
Maple trees do not produce syrup, they produce sap, which when gathered in the spring, is converted into syrup by boiling it to reduce the water content and concentrate the sugars. Trimming the trees will have no effect on sap production, but thinning the trees to encourage growth will. Contact your local agricultural extension service and have them advise you on which trees should be thinned to increase the production of your sugar bush.
