How to tell if the Naming Service is up and running and can accept requests?
There are a couple of ways to tell that the Naming Service is up and running. Firstly, after issuing the command to startup the Naming Service, you should see the stringified Naming Service IOR, indicating that the Naming Server and its Cluster Manager are up and ready to accept requests. For the clients that wish to use the Naming Service, you first need to determine whether there is an instance of Naming Server running in the network. You can use the osfind utility to find out whether any Naming Servers are registered with the Osagent. The default behaviour of Visibroker Naming Server is to register itself with the Osagent upon startup.
