Hi, taking an accurate BP isnt exactly that daunting a task to do manually, you just have to have good ears. 🙂 a) Ok, first off you take the cuff of the sphygnomanometer(we’ll call it the BP set from here on – easier to type lol :D). b) Now, wrap the cuff of the BP set around your right/left arm. Bear in mind that on the cuff you should see an arrow. This arrow should point outwards, i.e. towards ur fingers, and lie just above your elbow fossa. c) After wrapping the cuff, place your stethoscope to the elbow fossa and you can start to pump up the cuff. d) You will feel the pressure rising in the cuff, and you pump up the pressure to about 180mmHg, then release the pump slowly. e) Now your ears come into play. As you release the pump, you want to hear for any sounds. they are characteristic “duk-duch” sounds that you hear. These sounds are called “Korotkoff” sounds. Why you hear them is because what you are essentially doing is when you pump up the cuff, you are occluding the blood vess

take the bp cuff and place it on your left arm above the elbow, pump it up to 200 and place stethescope in bend of arm, SLOWLY release air until you hear the first thump thats your top number, slowly keep releasing air until you can’t here the thump no longer and the last thump you heard will be your bottom number. if you can’t get a pulse on his brachial, you need to get a pulse on his carodic on his neck,be sure to use your index and middle finger and not your thumb, because you have your own pulse you will feel instead of his,how it usually goes if you feel the carodic the bottom number on the bp is at least 70 and on the brachial (bend of arm) its 80, and the radial (wrist) it is 90.
