How to take care of antique silver coffee pots?

0

Antique silver coffee pots easily tarnish because they easily oxidize when exposed to air. Although real silver pots have lesser luster than silver plated pots but with good polishing they can look very beautiful. You can remove the tarnish by rubbing the pots with polishing cloth and you can confirm that the tarnish are being removed by noticing black marks on the polishing cloth. However in case of heavy tarnish, you can buy polishing paste in nearby hardware stores then put some of the paste in the cloth then rub it in. There is another way to remove tarnish called the butler’s trick using tin foil, baking soda and salt. Lay the tin foil in the sink, fill with hot water then add two teaspoons each of salt and baking soda. Then put the silver pieces together in the tin foil making sure they touch together and leave in not more than 5 minutes. After 5 minutes rinse it off and dry and you can observe that your sets all look new and fresh!
