First check whether it’s the microphone or the lead connecting the receiver to the amplifier. Put the receiver and amplifier as close together as possible and coil the lead up. If you can get hold of a ferrite ring (they sell them in Maplins) run the lead through it twice. If it’s the microphone, try adjusting the squelch control on the receiver. If it hasn’t got one – or if it can’t discriminate between what you want and what you don’t – you need to get a UHF microphone.
