How to stop MY cat fowling on the gravel path?

I am unimpressed by the neighbourhood cats using my garden as a toilet and agree with the sentiments expressed by Guy. However, on a more constructive note, I have found that scattering diced fresh orange peel on the garden has been effective in discouraging cats. I added fresh peel every few days and after two or three weeks the effect has been, if not permanent, quite long lasting. If you have space perhaps you could keep a patch of gravel and sand for intentional use as a toilet rather that just hoping it will be someone else’s problem. But, given the contrary nature of cats, the likelihood that the purpose built toilet would be used is somewhat optimistic. Even if it doesn’t work, the fresh orange juice is a bonus.
