How to steam vegetables without a steamer

A very simple way to steam vegetables is to take a metal strainer. Place your vegetables into the strainer. Find a pot that the strainer will fit on that will leave about an inch an a half from the bottom at least. Fill pan with water being careful not to put to much water as you do not want the water to touch your vegetables. Bring your water to a boil, then place your vegetables over the boiling water. The vegetables are ready when they get tender. Cooking times will vary depending upon the vegetable that you are steaming.
