how to start when laying tile in brick pattern?
Answer Hi Joe, Lets start with the assumption that you have found the center of the room. If the brick pattern goes from east to west then every row will be offset by of the tile from the previous row. As an example lets us a 3×6 tile and the total distance is 60 from wall to wall. The center is 30 so the first row starts on the 30 line and is installed to the wall 6 divided into 30 = 5 units of tile to the wall. The next row will be offset the tile or 3. So your starting line for that row is 33 or 27 depending on which side of the line you offset. 33 divided by 6 = 5.5 tiles or units. The distance from North to South is calculated the same way as East and West. The only difference is the tile size is always 3. If during your figuring the layout you find the tile cuts against the walls etc. are too small then do the same adjusting you would do for a stack or diagonal pattern. Now that I have gotten this far it has just occurred to me that I have assumed you are talking about a running
